Music short list

The below are the chosen songs. We are planning to cut this list down to 3. Most importantly the music choice must fit the genre and also the theme being portrayed. We are choosing to have 3 songs because of the change in subject, i feel music is a make or break so this is a very bug decision and we are planning to see what songs fit the best in different parts. But here is the list:

Behind the scenes filming day 2

Here are some behind the scenes photos of day 2 of filming. Above is Kamel performing a grind on the coping. Miles is capturing the trick with his Canon 600D with a fish eye lens attached, using this lens is conventional to skateboarding video. I am capturing a second angle using my Canon 70D and a telephoto lens. To add movement i was standing on a skateboard moving towards kamel. This creates a more cinematic and  interesting shot.
The above photo was taken by Ceri-Beth showing miles and i Filming kamel performing a transfer to the next quarter pipe. This is a very popular and complex trick when skating a bowl. This time i am using the fisheye lens and miles the telephoto capturing two different angles of the trick. The telephoto allows the viewer to understand the setting from where he is coming from to where he is landing. The Fish eye is for more close up action amplifying the trick making it look higher there for more imporessive.

Filming day 2

The second day of filming we arranged to meet up at Qatar Foundation, Qatar foundation is a university campus with many american and Qatari universities. They have great facilities from football pitches and basketball courts and now they have a brand new skatepark open to the public.

I Mainly focused on using the Fisheye lens getting close up action  shots seen in many other skateboarding videos while, Ceri-Beth and miles used telephoto lenses to get close up shots and establishing shots of kamel and others in the community.

The park is designed like a Swimming pool. In skating this is called a bowl.

Ceri-Beth, Miles and i met up with Kamel and other people from the community who will also be used in the film.
When taking each shot we thought carefully about both foreground and background, for example the close up of the shoe and skateboard but also the golden lighting, we made sure this was present because of the overall narrative of the film.

The shot above was framed to show Kamel as the main focus but also clearing showing the community and how close they are and how welcoming showing a young kid also having a go at skateboarding.

Filming day 1

Our fist day if filming was fun and very successful. Our first location was the pearl which is an iconic skate spot and tourist spot in Doha. Full of smooth paths and marble ledges.

I captured following shots of kamel using a filming skateboard and a x-grip. This created a smooth shot. ( see: skateboarding filming equiptment)

We filmed on the 8th January 2016;

This was our first day filming the actually clips after the test shots.

We had three cameras;

Ceri-Beth- Canon 7D, Zoom lens, tripod
Joe- Canon 70D Zoom lens and cinematic 50mm
Miles- 600D Fisheye, x-grip, rode mic

We had three different cameras to get three different angles in the hopes to link them all together making it more interesting with different camera angles.

Communication

When organising and planning our shoots we used numerous social media sites to help communicate such as WhatsApp and Facebook messenger.

I communicated with Kamel arranging days that we met up to film because i am closest to him.

We set up a group chat with Miles, ceri-beth and myself to make communication easier.
